President’s Cup Eyebrook

The second visit for our members this season tom Eyebrook.

On arrival at the Water, it was a flat calm, but fish were rising, and the odd rod was been bent. Thankfully by the time our members got out, a light breeze had sprung up to take the edge off the heat. It was bright all day, and the breeze changed direction several times, but despite that, the competition fished to a 2 fish limit, produced a good number of fish as well as tales of the ones that got away. The fish were found to be near the surface, and were caught on a variety of flies, including dries, damsels, and small blobs and Fabs.

All the 15 anglers who took part caught fish, some more than others, and 23 fish were weighed in, with another 59 being returned to fight another day, giving a rod average of just under 5.5. England Team regular Stewart Hume had the biggest fish of the day, a lovely rainbow of 3lb 12oz, and best bag of the day went to Paul Davidson witha bag of 20 fish, As it happened they were drawn out of the hat together to be the blind pair to determine the winners for the day.

The winner of the free boat, kindly donated by Flyfishstore, was won by Tony Ward, our first guest visitor to an EDFF outing.

Once again a sumptuous buffet was provided by Pauline Roberts and her helpers, which was taken picnic style on the lodge lawn overlooking the water . A lovely end to another good day at Eyebrook. Thanks again to Jim and the staff for all their help
